Meet the Director: How To Succeed’s Gayle Frick

Gayle Hoover Frick is thrilled to be back in the director’s seat at STC, having previously directed “The Producers,” “9 to 5 The Musical,” “Southern Fried Funeral” and “Back to the 80’s.” She was last seen on our stage in her bucket list role of “Donna” in production of Mamma Mia. Gayle has come a long way from her childhood role as “Kim “in the 1972 production of Showboat at NLU. Fast forward several years, many roles, dance steps, vocal performances and even several coveted Christopher Awards to today where she has the privilege of guiding the amazing talent that comes through the doors of our community theatre. She is an actress by first love, but has had the joy of directing, choreographing, decorating and costuming several productions at Strauss (and the surrounding area.) Currently she is the volunteer costumer here at STC and was also this show’s head designer! Gayle would like to dedicate this production in loving memory of her “Daddy,” William D. Hoover, who started his business in the 60’s in Accounting at NLU. Like Finch, he worked his way up (maybe unlike Finch?) from the ground floor to a successful career by being smart, charming and knowing a good business opportunity when he saw it. She has many thanks to the precious people who dedicate themselves to our community to bring entertainment to this area, but would like to take this opportunity to say “thank you to my amazing sound man (and husband of over 26 years) for loving, supporting and working tirelessly at Music City Studios and STC. He gives selflessly to so many and I appreciate all he does for me and my family.”
